Jaipur - Pink City 30-31 Mar

This is the last stop of our Rajasthan travel. After 3 cities of forts, palaces and more forts..we are a little saturated with them probably cos we have covered most of the impressive ones. hehe.

As Jaipur is one of the India golden triangle destinations for travelling, we noticed the difference when we arrived. Alot more tourists than other places that we have visited so far and we even met a few group of mainland Chinese tours! Alot more touts and things  generally more expensive than other places...

Take a look at our 2 days pics..

Arriving at day break after a long overnight train..tired..

Here's why they call it pink city. cos all buildings are  in this colour..

After leaving our luggage at the hotel, we headed out to Amber Fort..Isn't it impressive?

This is another fort behind Amber Fort. It has the World's largest cannon on wheels that Jeff must see.

In Jaipur, elephants on the road too!!
Monkeys fighting with Pigeon for food..

That's what the elephants are for! Lazy tourists who dun want to walk up Amber fort! Cheapo backpackers like us walked up with local tourists to save the money. hehe

(we were quite happy to see so many tourists since we have arrived in India.)

One of the few nice rooms in the fort. There are glasses all over the walk and that traps heat for night time. Smart!

their rooms in the past...

Views of Amber town from the fort. See how the water has dried up.

We went into the tunnel that connects the amber fort to the fort at the back..lots of bats!!

That's the tiny hole bats go thru!

Man and cannon

That's what we laboriously walked up the steep slope for 25 mins for! Impressive?

Largest cannon (on wheels) can shoot as far as 35 km. According to Jeff, it's from Tuas to Changi so he has to see what it looks like!

So we decided to make our walk worth it..and walked around the empty fort...found a nice garden..

View of amber fort and the surroundings..

here's the zig zag steep slope that we walked up..for the largest cannon. Guys, totally not worth it if you are intending to visit if u ever come to Jaipur. (now we understood why tourist only went Amber fort and not this fort!!! we should have just followed the other tourists..)

elephant jams...

if u need a closer look.
Front - Amber fort.
Back - Kum fort with the largest cannon (on wheels!)

there's a water palace in Jaipur too!

View of pink city from Monkey palace.

just couldn't resist taking this pic. the little girl was to cute holding on..

A more impressive Hawa mahal where Royal families women in the past watch streets events..(we din go in..)

Jaipur city palace - we din go too since have visited the other bigger ones..hehe

Children were happy to see us and told their friends to come along to see us! so funny!

Our auto rickshaw broke down! (thk cos jeff was too heavy...) hahah

 Dedicated to those fools fans...

We were happy to find pizza hut!! yummy and really cheap! Ate our fill for less than S$8 in total!

Investment made instead of visits to palaces..haha..(totally worth it!) they are gg to be sent back home..haaha

Jaisalmer - Part 2 - Desert under the Stars..

Streets inside the Fort. It was a maze!!

Temple inside the fort

Views of Jaisalmer city outside the Fort.

More nuaring time at our 'Palace' rooftop restaurant.

'Chilling' out before our camel ride..

House of a local village..simple..

We chanced upon a wedding! That's the groom and he has a garland of rupees notes.

Finally, we met our camels.

Jeff wants to give his camel a hello kiss..

Hold on tight while the camel rises. See how jeff cringes..

Riding in stride like a bandit!

Check out how nonchalant the camel looked. so cute!

Sunset ride..

getting quite comfy..

Like horses, they like bushes!

Are we still in India? Never knew that India has so much sand!

Moon is out!

We finally got to the dunes..feels like we were in sahara desert.

Getting off the camel. Camel's front leg bent forward to kneel down.

One of the few couple's shot. Good to have group mates! =)

Jeff's Achilles heel with a thorn!

Sand bathing..

What time is it?!! Kingfisher time!

Beer, woman, moon

The sun looks HUGE out in the desert..

Camp fire burning bright! Our guides preparing our dinner..

Heating up the oil..

Sun setting..

Gone within minutes..

One would never expect freshly fried Keropok in the desert..crunchy!

Potato in chick pea batter

Our sumptuous dinner! Everything was prepared on the spot. Peeling potatoes, making dough for chapatti..rice that tasted like porridge but we love it cos we missed porridge!

After dinner and bowels movement, it was bed time! Unlimited bed space for us to roll in any directions!

Rise and shine

We were so well taken care of. Our breakfast were shortly after we awoke..

Our little guide getting ready the camel..

Oatmeal porridge b4 we..

head out again..

Look at how huge the camel is compared to me!

Parting shot with my camel. They are really docile animals..

View of Jaisalmer Fort from desert..

Incredible experience...
