Medikeri - Cooling mountain region..12 Mar

Left Mysore in the morning and we took a 3 hrs bus ride to Medikeri via Kushanagar (small tibetan town). It was chaotic at the bus station as we tried to navigate what bus to take and where to take. No signs, no bus numbers only bus conductors shouting the destinations. It was quite fun though and we said that if we end up taking the wrong bus, we would just check out the place.

Things went smoothly and locals were helpful in getting us to our destination. We look concerned every time the bus stops at a bus depot in a town and the local will tell us, not there yet! Stopped at Kushanagar and nothing to see though we did see some of those tibetan style flags at some house that we passed by.

An hour later we got to Medikeri, capital of Kodagu, rugged mountain terrain with coffee plantation. Cooling weather and jeff's soles came off. hehe..went into a shoe shop and the guy did it for us for only 5 rupess (S$0.15) using super glue. Booked an auto-rickshaw and the driver, Lava, took us to a few touristy places for snapshots. U can see the pics on the plcs we went. Pleasant surprise at the end of the evening where we ended with musical foundation at a park! Check out the pics below...
We are moving on to Mangalore today (4hrs ride) and hopefully can catch an overnight train to Kerala region. Backwaters of Kerala, here we come!
