Jaisalmer - Golden City 26-29 Mar

To those who thought I am hogging the pics instead of me being photogenic, I am not! haha. PY dislike to be in the photos cos the clothes that she has brought are shabby. (also cos Jeff's photography skills need sharpening...so more pics that i selected are in instead of his!!) Now with many new clothes, she will be featured more regularly hee.

Jaisalmer city is known as the Golden city because of the colour of the sand. This is the city where it is famous for camel rides and sleeping in the desert.

It was great to finally reached the north western most of India where we ride camel and sleep in the desert under the stars. The boss of our guest house promised that they would bring us to a part of the desert where no other tourists would be. We were not hopeful but in the end was clearly not disappointed.

We did not see another soul apart from our group(only 4 of us!). It was an AMAZING and AWESOME experience sleeping in the desert. The moon was so bright that it seemed like daylight and the silence was really 'deafening' (only for jeff!! I loved the peace and sound of wind except with excessive chattering of our guides. Everything was just sand and more sand. It was really amazing to see how the moon moved from left to right as we slept through the night and finally at about 5am, we could see the stars clearly! At about 6am, the sun rose again..slowly..it was cold in the night and early morning.. and it felt great waking up with sand dunes all around and there was a shepherd with a herd of goats! There was goat droppings around us and they must have come while we were sleeping! It was another 1 hour of camel ride back before we headed back to our 'Palace' again... =)
On a bigger auto rickshaw to catch our bus to Jaisalmer from Jodhpur.

Look at the ingenious customization of the bus to have beds above and seats below!

Closer look of the beds.

Enthusiastic vendors selling water, food, ice-cream to passesngers every time the bus stops.

Found out that 'private' bus does not equal to 'private' space. Business driven operators packed as many willing customers as they can. I was even asked to 'help' by sharing my seat! haha

Our pick-up in a jeep. cool!

Our guest house 'Shahi Palace', not like the palaces we have visited though..hee

Roof top restaurant of our guest house with the Jaisalmer Fort in the background. It is one of the few forts that still have people living inside. 2000 of them manning shops and temples!

Request of you people, so here is more pics of PY haha. PY relaxing...

PY on a swing..

Night view :)
